What is Linux?

There seems to be a lot of confusion about what Linux is. I hope this helps you understand a bit better.
This is not a technical overview. It's more of a "What is an operating system". If you know what Linux is this video is NOT for you and was not made to teach you anything.

06/09/2010 at @CoverlessTech Do you know why?
06/09/2010 at WINE is not an emulation, WINE literally stands for "Wine Is Not an Emulator". They also make games that are also Linux compatible. Examples being Quake (every version, including the latest Enemy Territory), EVE on-line, etc. Also there are game that are exclusively for Linux only. KDE FTW! Great video, I plan to use your video for people who do not understand Linux. Great video. Thumbs up.

30/08/2010 at @t2491tom Saying GNU is the OS is a disgrace. I would never encourage anyone to refer to Linux as GNU/Linux because Richard Stallman is jealous of Linus's popularity. I don't care how massive his neckbeard is.
29/08/2010 at @blackkbear nope

26/08/2010 at @t2491tom He is trying to make it in layman's terms, so people with no technical understanding can comprehend what he is talking about.
25/08/2010 at @felixduhcat89 I'm going to pm you because I have to send you links.
25/08/2010 at @t2491tom I don't suppose you know how to run Quake 2 native in linux? That would really help :D
25/08/2010 at Sooooo...Linux is for nerds?
25/08/2010 at @felixduhcat89 No problem at all.
24/08/2010 at @t2491tom Yeah, I did it! I really enjoy Linux now. Thanks for the help :D
24/08/2010 at @Druid595 It depends on what games you want to play. Some games run extremely well in Wine and some don't. There are also free games such as Urban Terror, which is surprisingly quite fun. Right now GNU/Linux is not the best for gaming but I predict in the future it will be since there will be mainstream games for GNU/Linux shipping in the next few months.
24/08/2010 at @felixduhcat89 Make sure you have the right codecs installed. Also, don't try to use Movie Player, it sucks. Get VLC or a software from the Software Center that plays DVDs.
24/08/2010 at @lateralus011 Indeed, its very tragic that the GPL is used a lot less. Also I'm not a grammar nazi. I never attack peoples grammar, only their concepts.
24/08/2010 at @zcarlosjesus - you dont know what you're talking about. More for developers? WTF would they be developing? There is no final version, every bit of software from the kernel to the shell to the window managers are constantly updated and advanced, as with any operating system. Linux has existed since 1991, it's nothing new or experimental. Linux doesnt suck, my netbook runs ubuntu and will go from completely off to loading youtube in 42 seconds, I've timed it - and that's just a netbook.
